Construction At HCA

We are in the process of having a new building built behind the existing structure at Hope Christian Academy. The new building will include a classroom, a small office, two small bathrooms, and a storage room. This will be a huge blessing to the school. In the picture above you can see the floor is about ready to be poured.

Here you can see the walls are going up.

In addition to the building that is being built at the back of the school we also had some carports built at the front of the school. They will serve a dual purpose. First they will help to protect vehicles from the very hot South African sun and secondly they will provide a shady place for students to sit during recess. At the moment there is no shade for the students and it gets very hot in the summer time. The picture above shows the framework for the "carport".

The finishing touches are being put on the carports today 2/27/09. They look really nice.

Home School

Gwen does a good job working with the boys on school work. They really enjoy learning. Micah is only three but he likes to work while Isaac is studying. Isaac is doing well with numbers and letters.

Helping to move

Recently Glenn Gault and I helped move a few things to storage for Miss Carol Witter who is returning to the States for a while. Glenn came over from Lesotho with a small trailer and we moved most of the larger pieces of furniture. The problem was it really rained for a while. We got a little wet, but in the end we were able to get the moving job accomplished. In the second picture you can see it was really raining.

Ladybrand

This is the valley in which we live. Ladybrand is in the foreground and Manyatseng is against the mountain in the background. There is a total population of about thirty thousand in this valley.

Our boys on a chilly, rainy day recently. There is no central heating in most homes here in South Africa so when it gets cold we just bundle up to stay warm.

School Picnic

On Saturday Hope Christian Academy held their annual school picnic. A tent was set up for some shade. We all enjoyed some very good food and fellowship with the parents and students. Most of us played some volley ball and some even enjoyed a sack race. There were also some different activities for the younger children.

This is Lerato, one of the girls that attends Hope Christian Academy. She was enjoying a fudge Popsicle at the picnic.
